WASHINGTON After inserting in
the army appropriation bill of the ex
tra session a provision which halted
real estate purchases at various army
camps, the Republican House has just
passed a special measure in effect re
scinding its action regarding three of
the largest camps in the country and
directing that these camps be complet
ed.
Meanwhile, Because of the real es
tate rider on theegular army bod
get, kindreds of householders who
were compelled to give up their lands
when the government took possession
of the areas involved, have been den
ied settlement of their contracts. The
validity of such contracts and the val
ue of the camp sites selected by the
War Department now receives belat
ed recognition from the present House
of Representatives.
