Records of Board Given in Recent Controversy with State Biologist The following U a statement of F. M. Brown, Secretary of the Fish end Gam Commission, given under dir ection of the Commission, it made relative to the action of the commis sion in the dismissal of State Biolo gist Finley: At the regular, public meeting of the Fish and. Game Commission held December 11th, adjourned from the 10th, Commissioner Jack brought up the subject of State Biologist Finley continuing in service a matter voted that owing to the inability of Mr. Finley to harmoniously coordinate his ideas and work with the ideas and policy of the Board that the office be declared vacant on January 1, 1920. Mcssers. Fleischner and Jack were designated a committee to consider the advisibility of filling the office. It was also voted that Commission er Stone and Governor Olcott be adr vised of the action and that they oe requested to express their sentiments for record. This was done. The ac tion taken was approved by thrm the Board in full accord in the matter. When Mr. Finley nas notified of the attitude of the Board he request- ed that he be given an opportunity to resign. All the members agreed ' to this course except Mr. Jack, who I had not been heard from Wednesday. I This agreement of the Commissioners j was to be officially transmitted to , Mr. Finley Wednesday noon, Dec. 17, but before this could be done the fact of the vacancy in the office was pub lished in the early editions of the af ternoon newspapers by Mr. Finley. The nrd appreciates Mr. Finley', talents and ability and greatly re grets the lack of harmony which nec essitated this action for the good of the service.
