Plan for placing 60 airplanes in the
forest service patrol next year have
be-n submitted to Colonel H. H. Arn
old, air aervice officer of the Western
department of the army.
The schedule calla for 18 planes for
California, 18 for Oregon, 12 for
Washington, and 12 for Idaho and
Montana. It waa worked out at a
conference of private timber owners
with state and nations forest offic
ials in San Francisco, and ia now
awaiting the approval of the war de
partment. The planes would all be equipped
with wireless telegraph parachutes for
pilot and observer, the intercommuni
cating telephone for the two Users, i
and carrier pigeons for use in trans-!
milting messages in case of forced
landings or failure of the wireless.

erpool, hss voluntarily cut his salary
down more than half in order that the
vicars and curates in his diocese may
receive better salaries. Dr. Chavasse'
receives $21,000 a year. He has an-j

him and that the remaining 111,000
can go towards the sum being raised
to secure a salary of 2,000 a year
for every vicar and $1,000 for each'
