tha principal object of attack and
there ara man)- who would separate
it from tha pesca treaty or keep
America out of it altogether. A year
ago the general cry was for just such
a document, ana while American blood
was being spill I upon the battlfllds
of Franca and Belgium there was
none who wouli not say that some
sort of an international agreement
and armed force was not the pro pur
thing to place futrue wars at a mini
mum. When Senator Lodge at that
time was in favor of it. But because
it happened to h a democratic admin
istration that is charged with mak
ing tha sttlement, he is opposed to it
now.
W would much rather judge the
opinions of such people as William
Howard Taft. Alton B. Parker. Herb
ert S. Houston, Herbert Hoover, John
Barrett, Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt,
John Bates Clark. Samuel Gompers,
William C McAdoo. Oscar S. Straus,
Henry W. Taft. Henry Van Dyke.
George W. Wickersham and other
notables, besides tha vast majority
of tha American press, both republi
can and democratic, than tha biased
critics who set themselves up to de
stroy the peace of the world and set
to naught the work of the whole con
ference as far aa America is con
cemed. A rejected treaty means a
separate peace with Germany, and in
what shape is America now to negoti
ate a separate pace with the Hun ?
Coming closer to home wa find all
three of Oregon's metropolitan news
papers strongly in favor of the league
The Oregon ian. The Journal and
the Telegram, not to mention the
scares of others throughout the state.
Edgar B. Piper, editor of tba Ora
gonian, spent several weeks in clurope
and on the battlefields and knows what
be is talking about. He is for it.
Murray Wade, one of Oregon's best
known cartoonists and free lance
newspaper men, has established a
new magaaine at Salem with the pur
pose of boosting Oregon. He calls
it the Oregon Magazine, and searches
the entire stats for his material for
publication. Tha msgsiin is issued
monthly and supplies a splendid med
ium to attract the eastern settler.
There are many interesting stories
and articles In the first number.
The manner m which the $100,000
road bond issue wss taken up by Linn
County speaks highly for their pro
gressiveness. Besides keeping the in
terest in Linn County, the action of
these men and women in subscribing
for the local road bonds shows a
splendid faith in the county and a
worthy attitude towards better roads.
. Delightful October days. With
harvest almost completed tha sua
smiles benignly upon Linn County as
if in aladness over tba bountiful yield
that Old Sol has provided for this
section. It is the best year that Linn
County ever saw.
Albany merchants are kept busy
these days supplying the demands of
shoppers in this city. All of which
not only speaks for the prosperity of
the county, but for the evrellenca of
local stores and the desirauuu w
Albany as a shopping center.

ana leak and feel clean,
sweat and refreshed.
Wash yourself on the inside before
breakfast like you do on the outside.
This is vastly more Important because
the skla pores do not absorb Impuri
ties into the blood, causing Illness,
while the bowel pore do.
For every ounce of food and drink
taken Into the stomach, nearly aa
ounce of waste material must be
carried out of the body. If this waste
material is not eliminated day by day
It quickly ferments and generates
poisons, gases and toxins which ara
absorbed or sucked Into the blood
stream, through the lymph ducts which
should suck only nourishment to sua
lain the body.
A splendid health measure Is to
drink, before breakfast each day, a
glass of real hot water with a tea
spoonful of limestone phosphate in It,
whloh Is a harmless wsy to wssb
these poisons, gases and toxins from
the stomach, liver, kidneys and
bowels; thus cleansing, sweetening
and freshening the entire alimentary
