Funeral of W. R. Ray Is the
IanceMt Ever Held in
Eastern Linn Co.
Tha funeral of the lata W. B. Ray
who died Jun, 17 at tha family horn
near Scio, was held yeatarday at Ml
Pleaaant Cemetery, 12 miles north
cant of Scio. The services wer, con
ducted by Dr. G. H. Young of Albany
.ind were most impressive.
Fully 1,000 people gathered at the
remetary to pay their last respects to
one of th, moat prominent pioneer
residents of Linn county and the en
teem in which h was held waa amply
demonstrated by th, large number of
floral piecea and the impresive man
ner in which the funeral was held.
Mr. Bay waa C2 years old. He was
born June 1, 1857, within a half mile
of his present home where he spent
most of his married life except two
i years when h, lived at Jordan. On
November 27, lwl he was mimed to
Father Ann Irvine, and thirteen
children wer bom to the union, nine
of whom are living. Thou, living are
Mrs. Edith McKnight of Scio, at
whose horn, he died ; Dan Ray of Echo
Mr, Lola Lambert, Scio; Efie Ray, of
McMinnville, Loui Elmer, Zona, Co
ra and Irvina Ray living at home.
