Return from Old Kentucky
C. H. Gregory of Fox Valley, be
tween Lyons and Mill City, passed
through Albany today from a visit to
his "Old Kentucky Home.'' This is
Mr. Gregory's first visit in 16 year.
He reports but little change in that
time, but the people are enjoying pros
perity. Tobacco now sells at 60 cents
per pound, while in his day it was
from four to six cents. Mr. Gregory
states that he feasted on sweet pota
toes and possum. No rye at hand or
wanted. (
At the Van Winkle Home
Lieutenant and Mra. J. O. Van Win
kle are visiting at the home of his
brother, J. O. Van Winkle of Lyon
street. Lieutenant Van Winkle has
been in the service of his country as a
physician at Camp - Kearney, Fort
Funston and Fort Riley. He has been
in the service about one year and is
returning to his former home at Jef
