this afternoon and was rained out ao

are able to keep up with the outside
world.

regimental area. After we are here
four months we are supposed to (ret
a aeven-day furlough. Wo havo no
liberty like we had In the atatea. We
are checked every night after 9 o'
clock. Not allowed to buy any eata
from the French but the boyi come in
with large tonbono ateaki I dont
know where they (ret them but they
sure are good. A lonf of bread (le
pain) looka like a atick of cordwood;
it is wholewheat and rye and dark, but
very wholesome. They never wrap the
bread up in paper, just take it under
your arm or over your ahoulder. Bi
cyclea hero by the million and costs
about $100 apiece.
