G. A. R. APPRECIATED
SUPPORT OF COUNTY
We hereby tender our heartiest
thanks to the County Court of Linn
county, the City Council and the citi
xena of Albany for their generous
contributions financially in the total
sum of $750 that made the Encamp
ment Department of Oregon G. A. R
Meeting in Albany May 13 to 15 a
triumphant success.
We regret that more than one-half
of the rooms promised, near 400, in
number, were not called for, owing to
a smaller attendance than was antici
pated for the reason mainly that many
comrades in Oregon preferred to at
tend the National Encampment in
Portland beginning Auust 9th, and
campmenta.
We as heartily thank those ladies
who promised rooms that were not
called for, as those who had guests;
for we realize that all must have gone
to extra trouble in preparing the
rooms for such an occasion.
Thus far we have paid all known
bills. If there are any yet unpaid
please present them To R. Richardson
of the committee. We especialllv
thank the young ladies who helped in
the registration work, and those who
served as waitresses at the banquet.

Advertising Momentum
Many institutions expect advertising to perform miracles, to rehabilitate '
a depleted list of customers in s few weeks or harvest a golden crop
of dollars. Advertising ia not based on wizardry any more than on
quackery. Its results are cumulative
There are no miracles in advertising, but money so invested, if invested
properly and the opportunities thus created properly followed, will yield
handsome returns.
