KNOX BITTE NEWS NOTES
KNOX BUTTE, May 13. (Special)
Lyla Knox returned Saturday from
Portland where he visited his broth
er, Wallace Knox and aunt, Mrs. L.
Fox. He was accompanied home by
Gtea Fox, who visited over Sunday at
the E. E. Knox home.
Mr. W. T. Cary was a visitor over
the last week-end at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Powell at Lebanon.
Bev. H. S. Wallace of Portland was
a visitor over Sunday at the E. E
Knox home. He ia an uncle of Mrs.
Knox. '
There were about 60 present at the
Knox Butte Sunday school on Sunday
afternoon. - Rev. H. S. Wallace of
Portland delivered an impressive aer
mon after the Sunday school.
The Knox Butte Red Cross auxiliary
will (rive an egg shower on Wednes
day for the benefit of the Red Cross.
Donations are to be left at the J
Williams or N. Shelby home. Every
one who can ia invited to bring; eggs.
The farmers of this vicinity will
almost complete their field works this
week and will be ready for late gar.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mienert's two
little daughters have about recovered
from a severe attack of bronchial
pneumonia, also Mr. and Mrs. John
Barkhart'a children have recovered
from measles.
. The Junior Red Cross entertainment
given at the Knox Butte schoolhouse
Friday evening was a success, in everv
way. Miao Etta Powell, the teacher.
and her pupils, and all. who took part
in the program, were highly complimented.'-
A large and appreciative au
dience waa present. The proceeds of
the entertainment amounted to $25.

CAMPAIGN IS WEED
Albany Camp 103, W. 0. W., has
launched a campaign for membership,
for the next 30 days, under special
dispensation. Dist. Manager C. O.
Samain has full charge of same, with
the assistance of our members he ex
pects to initiate a large class at first
meeting in June. The Woodmen of
the World is one of the strongest frat
ernal insurance protective associa
tions in the U. S. Have nine of the
healthiest Western states under our
Jurisdiction, is past the experiment
stage, has a reserve fund of nearlv
89,000,000, all money, first class mu
nicipal and state bonds, including
$160,000 Liberty Bonds. Our Head
Camp has taken over the payment of
our 3500 Woodmen who are serving
our country, and was one of the first
societies of this kind to adopt full pay
ment of all losses on account of its
members going to the colors.
Albany Camp social Club are going
to give an entertainment, the pro
ceeds to go to Red Cross. The date
will be announced later.
