During a quarrel Sunday Mrs.
Thayer began to pack up and was
about to leave her home with the baby

ed between the parties. Mr. Irvin
an uncle of Mr. Thayer.
ROMANCE ENDS IN
WEDDING OF COUPLE
A peculiar tort of romance unit
to climax yesterday when Mrs.
Maud Holmes, ot North Albany, and
Mr. William Lorliy, of Duval. Wash
ington, were married. Mr. Lorley
was a triend oi Mrs. Holmes' first
hutand. Jessie Holmes, who was
killed by an explosion of dynamite
in Benton county and after leaving
here kept up a correspondence with
Jessie Holmes.
.Following Mr. Holmes' death a
letter came addressed to him from
Mr. Lorley. Mrs. Holmes opened it
and acknowledge receipt of it. Then
iollowed a correspondence between
the two, wbkb led to their wedding
yesterday.
The ceremony was quiet, none of
the relatives beinjf present. Mr. and
Mrs. Lorley will leave for their home
in ashtngton this week.
Elks Steward Gives His

A case in court may follow per
sonal dispute between a man named
Volkman, living cast of Albany, and
Road Supervisor r. M. Mitchell. Mr.
Mitchell is throwing a grade in the
road along Volkman's place, and the
latter took exception to a grade wjiicn
be claimed interfered with bis setting
into his place.
Volkman appealed to County Judge
D. B. Mc Knight, but was referred
to an attorney's office for
legal advice regarding the case.
It is thought that a fight will en
sue and it is possible that the case,
will be carried into court.
ARMENTROUT BOUND OVER
10 GRAND JORY
The preliminary hearing of
Officer Armentrout charged with
the wanton destruction of per
sonal property was called for
trial in the Corvallis courts at
2 p. m. today. District Attorney
Clark representing the state and
Attorney Dan Johnston of Al
bany appearing for the defend
ant. J. K. Weatherford and A. C.
Schmitt were called as witnesses
for the state. The case will be
concluded late this afternoon.

to the grand jury with bonds

Sheriff Investigates
Sheriff D. H. Bodine and local
agent H. S. Logan have made an in
vestigation of the robbery which oc
curred in the O. E. bunk car of the.
bridge gang, which took place about

eral clues were followed up. but no
