ceipt were 30D head. Yesterday's cat
tle market was a very active affair,
especially in beef steers. Cows and
heifers were inclined to move slow
ly although prices generally were
steady. Yesterday's total receipts was
one of the lightest Monday runs on
record. There were only a couple of
loads of strictly good (at cattle in
entire run. the bulk being made up
of grade, ordinary to medium steers
and cows which did not lake well
with buyers. One load of slough
grass rattle brought $Q.5, which was
the day's top outside ol a lew small
bunches it $9.50. Ordinary grades
brought from $8.25 to $8.50, with com
mon stuff selling dow nto $7.00. Best
beef cows brought from $8.00 to $8.50
with fairly good ones at $7.50 ami
$775. Medium grnd.- dairy cows
brought around $7.00; common and
ordinary from $500 to $6.50. Datnand
for beef .mil bologne bulls continues
very good at strong prices, the best
selling at $7.50 and $7.75. Fairly good
heavy bulls brought around $7.00
Ordinary and fair light veal calves
brought $0.00. The steer supply of
yesterday did not near meet the de
mand and we are quoting best steers
25 cents higher than a week ago. Vc
miote prime steers $0.50 to $1000.

Receipts were 1300 head. Packers
again cut hog prices 15 to 25 cents.
There was only a light run here for
the day and demand was also light
Ml packers acted bearish, with prac
tically no spcrntathe demand. Small
killers boutrhi sparingly. The pig
market was in for one of the heavi
est cuts on record, dropping off one
cent a hundred weight for the day.
The top of the market was $15.25.
The bulk of the sales ranged from
$1500 to $15.50 Pigs sold mostly
at $1200 with a few hunches to out
side feeders and bntehers bringing
from $13.00 to $14.00. Eastern mar
kets are still on the sled and seem to
be (joiner faster than ever. Provisions
were all higher.
Sheep
Sheep receipts were 1500 head.
While receipts were light they were
comparatively of fairly good volume.
Demand was also fairly god and pric
es were mostly steady with last week.
Spring lambs sold mostly at $13.75.
while several lots of fine heavy shorn
yearlings brought $11.50 with a load
of yearling bucks at $11.25, carry a
50-cent dock. Good light ewes told
from $0.00 to $9.50; culls from $7.00
to $8.
