S. F. Hulletin: From the huge Fed
eral wireless tower a wireless rec
ord, the second withiif.a week, anil
which will stand out in the history of
radio telegraphy, was made last ni.iht.
Messages were sent across 4468
and 4546 miles of ocean space to the
liners Sonoma and Ventura, between
Pago Pago and Sydney, Australia.
For more than halt an hour shore
operators on the' two vessels convers
ed, exchanging the news of the day
and making records of the weather
both here and in the waters in which
the liners were located. Through the
entire period the messages ciunc back
and forth clear and true.
A few days ago the local Marconi
operator was able to converse with
a Japanese government station near
Yokohama, and a regular service be
tween the two stations is soon to be
installed.
