No less than four local physicians were in the crowd who witness
ed the play last night, all of whom endorsed "DAMAGED
GOODS," most highly, one of whom said:
"DAMAGED GOODS" is a play which certainly should be seen by
all young people. It is in now way overdrawn, in fact it is very con
servative, for there are worse excmples of this terrible disease
right in Albany. As an educational picture it is of untold value, and
parents should see that their chil children over 16 years of age see it

joyed, after which a dainty collation
was served. The pleasant rooms were
decorated with white lilacs and apple
blossoms.

Miss Kntherine Allen delightfully
entertained the girls of her class on
Wednesday, The girls met in the
parlors of the St. Francis hotel and
were entertained with contests and
games. After a delightful evening the
girls were treated to refreshments at
the Elite. The girls who were pres
ent were Hildcgardc Spillman. Cor
intha Hart. Nathcel Donaca, Harriet
Van Tassel, Delia Stover, Carolyn
Wright, Haiel. Ross. Vere Smith,
Marciel Austin, Lee Fortmiller, Edna
Taylor, and Beatrice Sanders. Before
leaving. Miss Allen gave each of the
girls hand painted favors.

ered dish club delightfully surprised
Mr and Mrs. J. D. Summers in cele
bration of Mr. Summer's birthday, by

evening. Pinochle was played during
the evening and refreshments were
served. Present were Messrs. and
Mesdames Walton Worrell, R. Wal
worth. Glen Junkin. A. J. Hodges. S.
E. Watson, Mrs. Hand and Mrs.
Linch.
The Art Craft club met on Tues
day of this week with Mrs. A. J.
Hodges. The afternoon was spent in
fancy work and conversation. Choice
refreshments were served by the host
ess. Additional guests were Mrs. F.
P. Nutting. Miss Conger, Mrs. Palmer
and Mrs. Bilyeu.
Thursday afternoon the H. D. W.
club met with Mrs. William Van Win
kle. Each member answered to the
roll call by a "Hint on Household
Helps." The ladies spent a very pleas
ant afternoon with needlework anil
conversation. Afterwards delicious re
freshments were served. The follow
ing were the complimented guests:

M. Parish (Corvallis), Mrs. Harry
Xebcrgall. Mrs. W. B. Chance. Mrs.
Robnett. Mrs. L. E. Moe, and Miss

The Pythian Sisters held a called
.meeting Friday evening. Mrs. George
Hochstcdlcr, a supreme officer was
here to inspect the work. After three
initiations, the ladies enjoyed a ban

The Ladies' Rural club met Thurs
day with Mrs. Virgil Looncy. During
the afternoon music and sewing were
enjoyed by the ladies. Invited guests
were Mrs. Looncy of Portland, and
Mrs. Koons. The members present

Mrs. A. W. Itowersox entertained
the Leisure Hour club in a delightful
manner Friday afternoon. Iti her
pleasant rooms, bridal wreath, while
lilacs and baskets of pansies were used
in profusion. A guessing contest oi
the names of the streets of Albany
was nn interesting diversion. Mrs.
Hobbs of Eugene received the pric.
Many guests including Mrs. Jessie
Wallace of Haraboo, Wisconsin and
Mrs. Hobbs of Eugene were present.
Last week a tea was given hy Mrs.
Charles Stewart honoring Mrs. Jessie
Wallace of Baraboo, Wisconsin. A
number of intimate friends of Mrs.
Wallace were present Mrs. H. Cus
ick and Mrs. Jos. Ralston poured.
