The Albany Pheasants will go to Salem Friday, July 2nd, accompanied by the Pheasant band, to participate in the Cherry fair celebration. Presi dent Fred Dawson, of the Pheasants, is in receipt of a letter from the Cher ry Fair committee of the Salem Com mercial dug extending a special in vitation to the Pheasants. An effort will be made to run special trains from Albany on that day and no doubt many people will go to the Capital City for this year's 4th of July cele bration. In the parade on the 2nd will be seen the Portland Koiarians, Oregon City Fallsarians, Albany Pheasants, Kugene Radiators and the Salem Cherrians. This will be the first time that all of these booster organizations have been together in one celebration, and the Cherrians are preparing a big welcome for their guests. One of the features of the Cherry Fair has always been the baby parade. and it is said that this event will be even belter this year. Salem mothers take great pride in this event, and visitors to the fair have always ex pressed great admiration for the won derful showings made. An exhibit of cherries and flowers. a big carnival, daily parades, fire works, bands, and fun galore will make this one of Salem's best celebrations. With Miss Wilson on the committee in charge of the course are David Starr Jordan, president of the National F.ducation association, which meets in Oakland in August, and P. P. Claxton, United States commis sioner of education. The special course will be for the benefit of teachers, parents and oth ers interested in child welfare, and in connection with it will be held a num ber of demonstration schools in which teachers will do practice work.
