the gold balance of tho treusury was simi
larly menncol by foreign snlluence. This
policy, in brief, is to uisburso currency of
any character and denomination desired at
any point in tho United States when it
may lie needed in exchange for gold de
posited in any sub-treasury except that at
San Francisco.
