TiinowiKa Money Away. The follow
ing by John K Rogers, in Printers Ink,
is of local interest. ,Tliougli Albany, litis
already been bitten several times, in
view of prospective live times, a present
warning will be applicable: A recent
issue of Printers' Ink contained a reprint
which stated that many to-ns, especial
ly in the South and West, were issuing
illustrated pamphlets describing the
location and advantages which they
possessed. The statement is, unfortun
ately, only too true. This custom is of
ephemeral growth, and, like other insti
tutions of a mushroom existence, is
already beginning to experience an early
and merited decay. 1 have yet to know
of one case where a town, board of trade,
improvement company or a number of
citizens have published one of these
books without afterward sorely regret
ting it. Yet it is quite a natural thing
for inexperienced advertisers, or men
inexperienced in this new branch of ad
vertising, to sink their money in this
way. It does not attract investors, busi
ness men. nor manufacturers. Hut it
often leaves the t)n or hoard of trade
treasury barren of advertising funds, and
worse still, it leaves the promoters and
leading men in such a state of mind that
they are apt not only to ue antagonized
against any good line of town advertis
ing subeeci'uently offered or considered,
but against business advertising as well.
What they do wish to know is tii loca
tion, transportation facilities, industries,
freight rates, cost of skilled and unskilled
labor and tax rates of a town, together
with what other information can be
properly stated within fifteen hundred
words.
A MoNisoiiiTES PiiiLii'i'ic.-The Monroe
correspondent of the Corvallls Times gets
eloquent as follows: '-During the past
week there have been more drunken and
tMsorderly men in town than we remem
ber to have seen for many a day. Men
have been letting their business go to
loiter around the new saloon, while larm
ers that e know of bring their wives to
town to do some trading and leave them
to sit around the stoves in the store until
dark, while they are drinking and carous
ing at the saloon. We have the most ac
commodating and liberal nind in the
word and believe in free trade and a high
protective tariff, tree whiskey, a high li
cense, prohibition and that sort of thing
and we believe that both democrats and
republicans will elect their men in 92, in
. fact, we believe most anything to be ac
comodating and avoid an argument, but
when it comes to trying to make us be
lieve that a man who leaves ttic wife he
has promised to cherish and protect sit
ting by a stove In a dry goods store sur
rounded by a gapping crowd of idlers for
four mortal hours while he is filling himself
with vile stuff and spending money which
his family needs badly, is as intelligent
and vile a a hog, we beg to be excused.

been affected with Neuralgia of the

writes: "My food did not seem to
strengthen me at all and my appe

was yellow, my head dull, and I had
such pains in my left side. In the
morning when I got up I would
have a flow of mucus in the mouth,
and a bad, bitter taste. Sometimes
my breath became short, and I had
such queer, tumbling, palpitating
sensations around the heart. I ached
all day under the shoulder blades,
in the left side, and down the back
of my limbs. It seemed to be worse
in the wet, cold weather of Winter
and Spring; and whenever the spells
came on, my teet and lianas would
turn cold, and I could get no sleep
at all. I tried everywhere, and got
