Gun Evi'i.oDED. Yesterday George
Harris and Erank, his brother, who live
about three miles from Kcio went out
into the foot hills about lifteen miles
from the fjwn to hunt deer. They
camped and after dinner went out in
search ot game. George killed one ileer
and was follow ing after another which he
wounded when another passed nthwart
his path, lie immediately proceeded to
shoot at this one when his gun exploded
lilling his eyes and face full of powder
and burning his eyes so that he could
see but little. He called to his
brother but could not make him hear
and after a tedious trip he arrived at
camp. They then set out for home on
horseback, where they arrived at mid
night Today they came to town when
Drs Davis and Mastoit proceeded to re

Foulweather, on the Pacific, Jos Hriggs.a
young mar, met with a serious accident
in the following maimer: He was clean
ing a Winchester gun, and got the rod
fastened in the barrel. As lie was un
able to remove it. he thought he could
shoot It out. Putting some powder in a
she 1 he made the attempt, but instead
of the rod going the firing-pin was blown
back, striking his cheek bone under the
right eye, and entering the head about
four inches. Dr Warren, of Newport,
was summoned, and removed the piece.
The wound is probably not dangerous.
