A Hot-Hkadrd Marshal. Grant's
Pass was treated to a sensation one eve
ning this week. Lieut Hollev, USA
recruiting oflicer, was walking up street
arm in arm with another gentleman,
when tuey came across a chair in the
middle of the sidewalk. Lieut Ilolley
kicked it out into the street. The mar
hal was vexed nnd heated up. He shot
at Holley three times with his revolver,
the nearest shot going through his coat.
The marshal says Ilolley struck at him
and ho then shot at him. Lieut Holley
wasgivn an examination and acquitted

Brownsville people do not like this, as
they claim the Eagle Woolen Mills Co is
the Buccessor. at least practically, and
Albany people do not like it, because they
feel as if Albany is entitled to some credit
and notoriety in the matter. How would
something like this sound : "J M Mover

the Oregonian will show an absence of
Albany entirely.

there were a million in town ; but a
thorough canvas was made, nnd the above

very promiscuous animal, and there are
not nearly as many as there seems to be.
