The Second Anniversary of the Y M C
A of Albany was held at the Opera
House Sunday evening before a packed
house. The exercises were Interesting,
and leffa good impression as to the value
of the association to the city. The invo
cation wasoffeied by Rev E R Prichard,
followed by a hymn, with cornet accom
paniment by S N Steele and David Link.
The Lord's prayer was repeated by the
audience, a responsive reading was con
ducted by H W Young, Rev S G Irvine
offered prayer, Rev Geo W I liil conducted
a scripture reading. A quartet composed
ot 11 W Young, C H Hart, Prof Lee and
C W Sears were heard In "Driftine with
the Tide." Prof Iee gave a short address
on the progress of the association in Al
bany, and the General Secretary, Mr
Young.presented a report for four months,
which showed the following:
Number of gospel meetings at 4 pm
Sunday (19 weeks,) 19 total number at
tending gospel meetings, 1229; number of
noon day prayer meetings, 12; number of
special gospel meetings, 6; number of re
quests for prayer, 16; number cf professed

ployment, 7; number otherwise assisted,
14; number of committee meetings, 13;

year,) $414. The estimated expenses for
the earning year were placed at $1741, in
eluding following: Indebtedness, $150

The estimated income is, one hundred

Prof V Allen Shorey delivered an able
address on voung men, and the audience
were given an opportunity to subscrib
towards the support of the association.
The amount of subscriptions raised to

WEATHER.
The temperature has risen slightly dur
ing the week, being almost normal. Rain
fell frequently, making an excess lor the
week in western uregon. showers pre
vailed In eastern Oregon, with snow In
the mountains. Cloudy and partly cloudy
weather with southerly winds prevailed.
Hail fell In sections on the 6th and 7th.
When the sun shone the rays were warm,
The general weather conditions are not as
far advanced as is usual at this time of
year. The temperature ranged from 40
to 65 degrees.
CROPS.
Farm work Is slowly progressing. Seed
In? on uplands Is being pushed rapidly;
on low lands the soil Is too wet to be
worked. The acreage of spring grain is
being increased. The early sown grain Is
above the ground and Iooks to be unus
ually hahhv, though of slow growth.
r all wheat Is also ot slow growth, but it
roots and stools are large, and It Is gener
ally reported to be looking unusually well.
Wheat prospects were never better at this
time of year. The same can be said of
other grains, fruits and crops of all kinds.
Fruit Is slow In developing.
Garden making is late, the soil being
generally too wet. In early gardens
onions, lettuce, radishes, etc, can be had
for table use Spring seeding Is almost
done in Umatilla county. ,
STOCK.
Stock wintered well, the loss has been
practically nothing, the range is becoming
better. Some cattle are yet fed, but sheep
generally get sufficient food on the range.
