; Rival Towns. Salem and Albany are
I rival towns, says the Corvallis Tunes. What
one wants the other must have. Salem
undertook to raise a $25,000 subsidy for a
,tlen mill and they did it. but it took
rly a month of good rustling. Albany
idertook to raise a similar sum for a sim
it object and it was done in less than a
Kk. This detracts on credit from Salem,
it it shows that Albany is alive to her own
iterests and that a little rivalry is some
times a good thing.
