from Zanzibar says : An American sailing
vessel, bound from Zanzibar to Madagas
car was lired on by a German vessel. One
of her masts was broken.

Hetzfcld, German ambassador. Germany'
views of the Samoan muddle and the Zan-
zibar question causes distrust in admirably
circles. Mysterious silence is maintained
