At this time the colored voters of the country. and of Indiana in particular, are very boldly as sorting that no recognition short of a cabinet position will satisfy them. The following from the Freeman published by a colored man at Indianapolis shows the feelings of colored people: "At no time since the negro became a citizen has his vote been held so important as it is to day. Uon the actions of the incoming Ad ministration will depend the dondition of the negro vote in 1802. If the Republicans face the country four years hence with a record of broken promises and unfulfilled obligations it will not be so easy to explain away the neglect as it has been in the past, and it wilt be impos sible to prevent an irreparable break in the ranks. The colored man expects great things of this new regime, and it will not be well to disap point him. His increased knowledge has taught him his strength and he is not disposed to continue sowing benefits without prospect of reaping some for himself. The negro vote saved the Republican party in the recent con test, and because of this fact the colored people will, and rightly, demand greater honors than have previously been conferred upon them. Democrats have expressed a belief that the negro will be given the cold shoulder in the dis tribution of offices. The Republicans cannot afford to have this prediction verified. We maintain that it would be but just and appro priate recognition of the negro's importance as a polical factor to place a colored man in the Cabinet. The flint glass makers of Pittsbnrg have form ed a combine to put up prices. They have also asked congress to increase the tariff on glass.
