ago, in Portland, Or.James A Weiler mar
ried a Miss Clara Meyer, who was the pos
sessor of several thousand dollars. Com
ing to Denver on a wedding tour, Weiler,
thought it would be a good plan to increase
his wife's fortune at She gaining table, but
unfortunately lost all. On hearing it Mrs
Weiler commenced action against the pro
prietors of the gambling house for the re
covery of $2000. After a brief trial the
jury to-dav brought in a verdict in favor of

bor bill has been completed by the commit
tee, and wil! be reported to the house early

ouri river, $375,000; Columbia riv.er, Ore
gon $250,000; Oakland harbor, California,

bottom facts in Saturday night's massacre.

that nearly every man killed was shot in

freight engine crashed ten feet into the
Pullman "Mandan." Mrs. T. B.Wilcox of
Portland on a pleasure trip with her hus
band, was in the Pullman dressing room
and was fatally scalded by escaping steam.
Another lady "had her ankle sprained by
jumping from the car.

CuiCAGO.Dec. 11. An explosion occurr
ed at the oatmeat mills at the corner of
llalstead and Fulton streets, at 2 o'clock
this moring and the building is now burn
ing. It is reported at the police station
