TELEGRAPHIC NEWS 3Iob Fired On. Birmingham, Ala., Dec. 9. A crowd which had been seen collecting on the streets for several hours last night, at mid -night advanced un the county jail, with the intention of lynching R. R, Hawes, charged with the murder of his wife and child. Many of the best citizens tried to reason with the crowd and prevent trouble and some lost their lives in the attempt.' When the crowd was within a few feet of the jail door and had failed to heed num erous warnings, the officers opened fire upon them, killing three men instantly, fatally wounding seven and wounding more or less seriously about thirty others. Reached Sacramento. Sacramento, Dec. 9. Robberies here have been more numerous of late than for years past. From the direction the rob bers seem to have come it Is thought a number of them have worked their way down from Oregon, hawing come from the East by the Northern Pacilic. Qne stranger who has not yet been apprehended, but who is thought to have been here for two or three weeks, resorted to some of the most daring methods yesterday to secure money . Lawlessness. , Ciiattaxoga, Dec. 9. A Timet special from Gadsden, Ala,, says : This morning Deputy Sheriffs Christian and Herzberg went out to New Furnace to arrest Sam Moore.a negro.who had killed a man Satur day night. Moore had fled, but the deputy sheriffs were shot by unknown parties anl wounded. The officers arrested Lawson Adams,who was supposed to be an accom plice of Moore. Moore was afterward found and killed for resisting arrest. It is believ ed Adams will be lynched before morning. Some Fighting. Zanzibar, Dec. 9. A British steamer which was recently sent to Bagamoyo re turned here to-day with several Indian traders and their families on board. They report that the town is wrecked. There was severe fighting on Thursday and Fri day ,and the rebel loss was heavy. A Ger man and two native dependents were wounded. Bushiri subsequently retired five miles inland. A pig Demand. Baltimore, Dec. 9. A young physician Dr. Nathan R.
