Lor'n Harris, son of Geo. W. Harris,
formerly of Albany, where- the young
man was born, has sued the Oregon
Power Co. at Eugene, for $10,000 dam
ages, for the loss of an eye.
Vernon is the smallest place in the
world to have a professional base ball
team, its official population being only

A Freshman Reception.
The freshmen of the high school last
evening were given a rec option by the
remainder of the students of the higher
classes, and a line time was had in
games, with a short program. Floyd
South, presiaent of the student body
presided. Chas. K. Ohling delivered
an eloquent address of welcome to the
youngsters, and short talks were made
by Superintendent Boettichor and Pres
ident Parker of the school board. Re
freshments were served, and tho fresh
men know what their rights aj e.

The Democrat recently in mentioning
the coming here of Dr. A. P. Howolls,
of Corvallis, thinking he was a homeo
pathic physician, remarked that he was
the first for several years to come here.
But he is an osteopathic physician, and
the words getting mixed has caused a
wrong impression. Albany has two as
