Albany's Six Early
Trains.
H. T. Wentworth. of Ashland, passed
through on a trip to Portland. He
formerly resided here. Since going to
Ashland less than two years ago be has
Duilt six brick blocks and two bunga
lows and is now at work on a big school
house at Gold Hill. He is one of Ash-
lanj's best boosters.
B. J. Hecker left for Oorvallis. For
several months he has been gathering
together bauds of Cotswold bucks.
some of which have already been ship
ped, in all about tour thousand, which
will be taken to near Denver, with
that city as the headauarters for dis
tribution, and sold. They bring a tine
price in the Colorado market.
J. L- Irvine left on a Portland trip.
A car load of Chalmers-Detroit cars of
1911 has iust been received in Portland
and Mr Irvine will endeavor to secure
one of them.
Messrs Crowell. W eider and Karney,
three young Burvevers. left for Millers
to do some work for a few days.
Miss McChesney left on a Newport
outing trip.
S. P. Barger arrived from Brownsville.
H. K. Lugger left on a Lebanon trip.

half of the Albany Commercial Club,
inviting the Hoover Lumber Co. to re

that they do not intend rebuilding at

tary of Oregon State Horticultural
Society, asking if offer of $50.0 is to

tising Co. giving estimates for news
paper advertisements. On motion it
was ordered that the Manager prepare
copy and make contract for one month's
advertisement. .
Copy of letter from Manager Struble
to Postmaster Merrick, of Portland. ,
was read, inviting him to participate in
the next monthly "Get-together Meet
ing". Mr. Merrick has written it will
be impossible to come now.
Letter from Dr. Prill relative to
train to and from Munkern on Albany
Day at the Linn County Fair, and indi
cating that arrangements for holding
train until 6:80 had failed. The secre
tary waa instructed to take up the mat
ter with the officers of the railroad.

Mr. Page and several other editors
of the city were made associate mem
bers of the Club.
The entire Board was made a com
mittee to solicit subscriptions for the
Club, and all were instructed to begin
work immediately.
Remarks were made bv Dr Hill ad
vocating the establishment of small
lactones.

TONIGHT.
The encampment at American Lake
closed last night and the soldiers left
for home this morning, the Southern
Oregon and Willamette Valley boys
first. They a-e due to arrive in Port
land at 2 o'clock this afternoon and the
Albany boys home on the 7:45 train to
night.
This will prooanry oe tne last encamp
ment at American Lake. Speculators
having gotten charge of the property
have been robbing the government.
Besides the water is said to ne poor.
The nill test was not a success be.
cause not sufficiently carried. out, but it
is thought it might work..
Reports are that the Albany boys
have been well and behaved themselves.
The only accident was to Dr. Ed. Stew
art, whose horse tun into a barbed wire
fence and threw him twenty, feet.
