Passenger Trains.

A TROPHY
SHOOT.
A squad of shooters from G Co. left
this afternoon for Knox's Butte, to
have a regimental shoot at the range,
under the charge of Col. Yoran and
Capt. G. E. Houck, range officers, who
superintend the contest. The contest
is for a rogimental trophy. Each con
testant fires two sighting shots and ten
record shots on each of the ranges, 200
yards of hand, slow and rapid firing;
500 yards slow fire and 600 yards slow
fire. A medal will go to the man of
the regiment making the highest score
and the regimental trophy to the Comp
any havine the team maKing me nign-
est aggregate score.

Miss Myrtle Pease, of Portland, trav
elling visitor of the Boys and Girls Aid
Society of Oregon, was in the city to- i

Society is doing a wonderful work,
backed by Oregon and the people of the ;
state. There are over twenty children
from Linn county alone in charge of
the Society. $67,000 in bequests show .

Mr. and Mrs. Arch Altermatt arrived
this week from Minnesota, where Mr,
Altermatt has been cashier in his un
cle's store for a year or two. He is a
son of Mr. P. F. Altermatt of this city.
Since going he was married to a pop
ular young lady of Springfield, who will
now become an Oregonian. Mr. Alter
matt has eight children, of whom five
are married.
