The Cottage Grove Miracle

It appears that Mrs, Will Cunninkham
of this city lor some time past bag been
a sufferer from a serious affliction to ber
eyes which, finally resulted In the losa
or sight In the left eye. 1'be affliction
wa. diagnosed by leading specialists as
a deposit over the crystaline lens. At
times the eye caused Mrs. Cunningham
intense pain. Drs, Scbleef, phyiiciana
of Cottage Grove, bay had charge ol
the case lor some time and at last da
fidedlupon an operation which was to
have taken place lent Friday lor the re
moval ol the optic as the only means of
relieving tbeir patient's coffering.
Being a woman of deep religious con
victions MrB. Cunningham spent l'bura-
day night in fervent prayer humbly
petitioning that her lost vision be re
stored. Drs. Bcbleef, assisted by Dr.
Brown of Eugene, prepared for the
operation Friday morning, Asking to
be excused a moment the patient retired
to her closet and was soon engaged in
ber final supplication. Only a Bbort
time had elapsed when she again re-
appealed, this time shouting for Joy.
"My sight is restored, glory to God,"
she exclaimed joyously, and it was true.
One of the physicians placed a band-
ageover the right eye and bell objects
up before the afllicted optic. Ibe lady
in each instance and without a moment's
hesitation, gave the name of the article
shown.
The lady was naturally exultant in
hor firm conviction that it was through
divine power that her lost sight was re
stored und. while the physicians were
somewhat surprised at the developments

to discourage their patient in ber
