Inform.ition reached this city to night of a terrible acci dent which occurcd on 'he Lehigh Valley railroad.at Mud Run.the first station above Pcnn Haven. A grand parade of Catholic societies took place at Ilazelton to-dav, and a large excursion was run from Wilkes, barre for the occasion, composed of lodges, bands, and sightseers from Wilkcsbare, Nanticoke and others points along the line. The excursion train was run in two sections and upon their return trip to-night the rear section ran into the forward section at Mud Run, about q o'clock, with disastrous re sults, Several cars of the forward section were telescoped, and forty persons were killed outright and about'an equal number injured, many of them probablv fatally. Two Mon Killed. Helena, Oct. 10. Frank Elliott, ho runs a restaurant at Elliston, Mont., got in. to a row with the bartender at the Elliston hotel last night, and pu!!ed his revolver, whereupon Mr. : (rand, the proprietor, in terfered and received a shot in the left side which is thought not to be fatal. Elliott followed this up by three more shots, one of which took effect in the knee of a Swede by the name of Alex. Folsom, who will likely lose his leg.
