These goods have to be sen to be appreciated The damage by frost to the Maine corn crop, it is now estimated, will approach nearly $i,ooo, ooo. Those of the packers who have keen seen take a dismal view of the matter, since the loss of the Maine pack would throw the trade into southern and western markets, besides throwing 5000 men out of employment during the packing months. The farmers have suffered severe, ly, for not only has the frost raised sad havoc with the corn, but the damage to tomatoes, beans, squashes, pumpkins, etc., is reported as considerable. Ice a quarter of an inch thick formed in some parts of the state Wednesday and Thursday nights. In some places fire were kept burning about the cornfields, but, except in n few instan ces, this proved of no avail. If the weather continued cold for a few days it might be possible to save some of the corn in a dam aged condition, but a hot day or two would rot it in tne Nelus. The fact that many colored men will vote for Cleveland is an evidcr.ee of the political education of the race. No gush or sentimentality has characterized Mr. Cleveland's attitude toward the colored people, but he has shown that lie has no prejudice against their race. That tliL has been met by a removal of the prejudice against all Democrats industriously instill ed into the minds of the colored peoole by Republican politicians is quite natural. We propose, too, by extending the mar ket for our manufactures, to promote the steady employment of Labor, while by cheapening the cost of the necessaries of life we increase the purchasing power of the workingman's wages and aild to the comforts of his home. Cleveland's Letter of Acceptance. England need not fear for her commer cial and trade supremacy so long as the United State keeps its hands tied by a high tariff on the raw materials of manufacture. Fmmers havinc produce to sell will tt all times receive the top of the nmrl:e f r good prodnce, and your patronage is earnestly solicited. These facts are lisp $25,000 . Wcrtta of Pried Fruit Waated.
