The popular name of this insect comes from the resemblance of its cry to Katy-did. Harsh and shrill it begins, and repeats more and more rapidly, "Katy-did," "Katy-did, Katy did," until the sounds run into one another as a prolonged snarl. The insect has remarkably little sense and but one cry, Katy-did. So the Republican organs have but one cry, "Free Trade." It an swers them for argument, for exhortation, for denunciation. In season and out they cry, "Tree trade, "free lrauc. "I tee Trade." It matters not to them any more than to the insects that there is no sense in the cry, they yell It all the same. They are political Katy-kids. Every one who ever lived in the west remembers how of ten in the silent hours of a summer s evening jt has been his good fortune to take a seat in the onen air to inhale the fresh cool air of ight, Then it was that some big, full grown "Katy-did, would open up us parro i like twaddle, 'Katy-did,""Katv-did, "Katy Id" to be followed by thousands of other smaller ones repeating in chorus, "Katy did," "Katy-did," Katy-did." And thus it is with these republican organs. The big organ will set up the cry, "Free Trade,' "Free Trade," "Free Trade" and then the smaller fry join in the chorus In effeminate tones crying "Free Trade," "Free Trade," "Free Trade" and the less sense the more noise. During Cleveland's administration $232," 168,750,83 of the public debt has been paid Pensions during the three years of this ad ministration have been paid to the amount of $232,552,557,30. Greatest amount paid during any three years under republican administration was $172,001,790,13. Coin ment not needed. TELEGRAPHIC NEWS T.prlWo Disaster.
