from Omaha tells of a sanguinary conflict

which three men were killed and several

port says: Frank Gallop, a member of a

father. A number of citizens interfered

and the dire consequences following it
threw the citizens into confusion, but they
soon rallied and made an aJvance to the
house into which young Gallop had retreat
ed. The young desperado soon appeared
with two revolvers and opened a fusi.ade
with deidiy effect. The first man to fall
was David Campbeil.who was shot through
the neck and fatally wounded. The next
victim was Bird O. Rice, shot through the
heart and dying Instantly. T. H. Winfrey
was the last man to drop, with a bullet
through his leg. In the meantime.old man
Gallop was shot through the shoulder, but
it is not known by whom. Youne Gallon
returned to the house and began making
preparations for escape, when Mornly Flet
cher fired a shot from a rifle which, it was
subsequently ascertained went through the
desperado's two arms and bodv.killing him
Trouble in Parlv.
Paris, Aug. 12. While Gen. Boulanger
was driving in an open carriage at Saint
lean d.Angly to-dayyProf. Perrin, of the
Lycee, fired five shots at him from a revol
ver. M . RatUpan, a friend of the general's,
rushed forward and managed to turn the
weapon. The result was that Rattapan
himself receiyed a builet in the back of the
head, but the wound is not serious. Two
peasants were also wounded. The General
was not touched. Prof. Perrin is a friend
of Mayor Lair, the candidate supported by
the opportunists in opposition to iloulanger.
The affair occured at thehight of a pitched
battle between the rival political parties,
when the gendarmes charged. Count Dil
lon received blows on the head from a stick.
The Boulangists were roughly handled. It
Is not certain1 that Perrin intended to aim
at Boulanger.

Madriii, Aug. 12. The Cuban govern
ment reports that agitation is being carried
on in Cuba, with the assistance of influen-
nnl American politicians, in favor of an
nexation of Cuha loihe I'nited Slates. The
Cuban situation is becoming cxtreme'y
