"It is foolish to deny the fact that Michigan is a very close State," says trie Detroit Tribune, the leading Republi can organ; "the Republicans of this State do not disguise the fact that they have a close and hard fight en hand." The Tri bune bases the argument for Alger's nomi nation on the ground that it is the only way of making Michigan absolutely sure for the Republicans. The parties, do as they may, retreat as they may, harmonize as they may, cannot keep the issue of high tax or low tax from the polls. On that line the battle will be fought. Cleveland1 is as truly the man of lower taxes as Andrew Jackson was the inveterate foe of the national bank of his day. C'h.rcfe Directory TELEGRAPPIIICHEWS Fast Traveling. Shoshone, Idaho, June 15.
