Corvallle, Or, Another Republican has found the cour age of his convictions and announced him self as In favor of tariff reform and the Mills bill. This time it is Congressman Ander sen of Iowa, who declares that he is going to yote for the Mills bill because it is a step in the direction of tariff reform and be cause he is opposed to the policy of obstruc tion which is being pursued with regard to the bill by the Republican leaders. This brings another man into accord with the sentiment of those he represents, The men of Indiana are good fighters and good Democrats. Among the first to congratulate Judge Thurrran upon his nomination for vice president was Govern or Gray, who telegraphed these words: "Accept my congratulations on your nomi nation. Cleveland and Thurman will re ceive the enthusiastic support of the Indi ana Democracy." . The habit of using a red bandanna was begotten years rgo by Allen G. Thurman f om association with Eraile Gregoire, a French emigrant, who taught the Ohio s ."lesman how to speak "the polite langu age" and use a highly-colored handker ch'ef. Thus in a remote way France was recponslble for the most picturesque feat ure of the St. Louis Convention. i OVERLAND TO CALIFORNIA -VIA- Oregon & California It. K, AND CONNECTIONS. ' TUB JIT.
