Paid out on warrants from April 1st to May 9th, 18S8, ?3iM'-.33. Estimated expenses from May 9th to Oct. ist, 1S88, $7,331.19. Leaving an estimated balance Oct. 1st, i888,$",799. 8. From a certificate of the County Treasurer it appears that he paid out from the 9U1 day of May, 1887, to the 1st day of April, iSSS, as running expenses of the county, exclusive of $857.94 P2'1- Marion county en account of the Saunders trial, the sum of $7,331 iy. Estimating the expen ses of the county for the same period this year at that amount it will be seen that the county will have a surplus in the treasury on Oct. ist, 18S8, of $5,799.48. This shows that the county will be at that time in a very healthy condition financially. This $5,799.48 is surplus enough, and there is no reason to doubt that the tax payers of this county will fully approve Judge Whitney's management on next Monday by re-electing him to the ofiice of County Judge. Everything New, with New Prices Lower than Ever Offered in Albany, consisting of dry goods, notions, ihats, caps, furnishing goods, boots, shoes and groceries: I propose f" have on cot tiy, will) bI' f .3 i) a stook ev.tr lim ti evar br vjghs to Guenther, of Wisconsin, the great ora torical leader ef the German-Americans fcr the Republican party, states that he cannot support and will uncompromisingly oppose Gresham, because of his former Know Nothing aflilations and his unpar donable allusions to the -'lazy, lopcared, dirty Dutch," in a speech delivered prior to i860. He claims to have a copy of the New Albany, I nd., Ledger containing the offensive speech and certified to by eighteen repulable citizens. This attitude of Guen ther is regarded as .1 dangerous, if not fatal, thrust at the Uresham boom. The Chic ago Tribune will deny that Greshatn ever made the speech, or was a Know Nothing, and will continue advocating the Uresham doom which Medill started. Guenthc is a member of congress from Wisconsin. A full line of Br! Prices Cream Baking ard delicious flavoiiin' cxtraer.. nil sizes at Wallace '& Thompson's. To the Thinking Peoile of Albany Friends : Inasmuch as this is the day and age of sensational advertising and every business man is racking his brain trying to concoct some scheme whereby he can get ahead of his neighbor. We wish to deviate rom that rule and make the following state ments, knowing that they w ill be appre ciated by all lovers of truth ar.d justice. We are here in business for the purpose of making money and we realize that in order to accomplish that object we must have a continuance of our large patronage. Furth ermore we know that this can be assured only by extreme effort on our part and wc wish to state that we will at all times give you first-class goods at prices as low or lower than any house in Albany and in aJ dition allow you 5 per cent off on all cash purchases. The statement made by some dealers that they can buy cheaper than others is folly in the extreme as all cash buyers have equal advantages one with an other. What we are striving to do is to merit your patronage and we hope by square," upright dealing to do so and be of mutual benefit one to another. -Respectfully, Bkowneli. Si Stanard, V. MCLAUGHLIN.
