This promises Is be an exhibition worth witnessing, and our citizens should turn out generally on this occasion. The pro gram is about as follows. The Juvenile Band at 7 .'clock will gather in the mem bers of the Hook and Ladder Co. and No. l's, thence perambulating Second street will form with No. j's and the tourna ment hose team at No. j's Engine house, from which place the parade will begin, and will proceed thusly : Up First to Washington ; Washington to Fourth ; Fourth to Ferry ; Ferry USE Young's new corner, wnerc the liremin will sepa rate and form two lines reaching to in front of Deyoe & Robson's, when the tournament nose team in their new pluMi uniforms, which have cost $150, will run 700 yards, as provided for the speed race at the coming tournament, beginning at H. E. Young's newstoreand terminating in front of Deyoe & Robson's. Then the firemen will disband. The excursion to Salem leaves here at 7 o'clock Saturday. ' After 10 o'clock to-morrow forenoon tickets for the same can only bo secured at G L Black nan's. ' ' t Statu S. S. The session last even 'ing was increased by the addition of several new delegates, and a large number of interested citizens. Prof. Lee conducted an animated service nf sang, when Rev. Heagle, of 'the Baptist church of Portland, formerly of Princeton, III., delivered the address of the evening, "Wanders of the King's Ilook." This forenoon the devotional was, con ducted by Rev. Hobert, of Lafayette, one of the pioneer S. S. workers In the state and among the most active in the conven tion. The servants' work, under the heads, preparation, plans, and performance, was the topic this forenoon, and an interesting one. It is an interesting feature of the progam that the last thing of the morning session is somebody being fed. To-day the servants. This afternoon a fruitful session is being held over the King' sub jects, and beginning at 4 a children's melt ing. President Allen is a good presiding officer; Mr and Mrs. Wheeler are a host in the S. S. work and they are ably assisted by many good workers. To-night the newly elected oflicers are to show them selves, and Prof. Hell, of Philomath, is to deliver the address, "The King's Reward." Cheap Teachers. A few teachers of Linn county In order to get schools have been guilty of underbidding. At the re cent district institute ot Brownsville the question was asked as to what should be done with teachers who take schools by underbidding, and it was decided, on the spur of the moment, to hang them. Then' it was thought this would make them teo prominent and It would be belter to ex clude them from the Institute, at leaat refuse to notice them when they do at tend, and show them they have nothing In common with teachers. A person who will lake a school for less than the estab lished price, is unworthy to be recognized as a member of the fraternity and should be relegated to that obscurity where he justly belongs. This was the verdict of the teachers. Tub Sparring Match.
