We have just received a linely gotten up report of the district liutitute held at Brownsville on May n. Owing to an absolute lack of space and a crowding of matter we are un able to give the report lit full, much an we regret It. Mr. Curl was made chairman in the absence of the regular chairman. The proceedings were of a very Instruc tive, as well as interesting nature. The topics ef teachers' wages, methods of teaching geography, spelling, U, S. history, physiology, the matter of underbidding by teachers for schools, and the new sc'iool laws, were ably handled. The following teachers were present and generally par ticipated in the discussion: I, M Curl, Scio; (! S Hunt, Lebanon; Mrs Arzalia Hunt, Lebanon; Miss llaltle Long.lirowas vllle; Mr J M Williams, Halsey; Mr K B Cable, Brownsville; F M Mitchell, Spicer; I II Van winkle, Halscr; llattie K Archi bald, Brownsville; II Roke, Miss Bertie Hramlrlc, hweet Heine; Z T Truelove I allman ; A J Shank ; Crawfordsvillc, H W llcrron, Tangent; B A Childcrs, Browns vllle. A Prizb Fight. Mr. Butler, the Por' land pugilistic barber, and Mr. Bellinger, of California, arc In the city making ar rangements for some kind ef a prize fight, which it is currently reported will occur r riday evening. Some say it is for points and will bepuhlir.othcru that It will bewith soft gloves,Marquls of Quecnsbury rules. Like most of such contests perhaps a hip podroming affair, though this is only a surmise. Mr. Butler is very dark and tall; Mr. Bellinger is of medium heignt and light coisiplexioned. Albany is neta prize lighting city, and if the affair is not carried on in a very becoming manner there is liable to be trouble. 1. S. A hall has been rented, the Opera House, and great big, soft gloves arc to be used, and only a dollar asked to see the show. It is to be a sparring match pre. Ihuinarily to getting up a gymnasium or something of the kind ! P. S. ? ! ? ? ! 1 Hkttku A private letter from Dr. J. T. Buckley Surgeon in charge of the hospital of the N, I', R. K. at Missxula, Montana, writ ten to Mrs Robert Brown, of this city con cerning the condition of Leslie Mattoon who was so badly biirowl some time ago says : "Mr. M itto.ir. is doing linoly although he was terribly burned. Me was down stairs yesterday for the first time. Ma hits tho best of eare and attention. Your lutter was given to him and no doubt he will reply as soon as he can use his hands.'' In Tint Jaii.. Jas.
