As Explosion. Stockman, N. Y., May 17. A terrific explosion of powder and dynamite occur red here in the powder mill this morning Three men were killed outright, and the mill was demolished. Ran Over. LaGrande, Or., May 17. Ed Lindsay, an old citizen of Union countv.who lives at Island Citv, was run over and killed this afternoon at this place. The Usual Plea. S.m.e.m, May 17. To-day at 1 p. m., in the Circuit Curt at DalIas,Vm Landreth entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of the murder of his step daughter,Symmie Ellis Arille, at Independence last January, and his trial was set for Monday, May 28th, at 9 a. m. There is not an absorbing amount of interest manifested in the trial in Polk county. Everyone seems to feel sure that the murderer will be found guilty by due process of law, and for that reason there is thought to be no danger of any lynching party, such as hung Kelty last Julv. ).
