The following is from a Southern Oregon paper sent us with a request to publish it, and as it has a loea' application we do so: "It is faur and a half miles from Roseburg to Green's sta tion. The excursionist who goes there pays not only twenty cents for his ticket but is charged twenty-five cents extra for each gun that lie takes, although a single "un mav be the onlv luggage that he has. rhc baggage master informs the dissatis fied traveller that the sheath about his gun is not that required by the company which is explained to be a wooded case that in all pronabilties is too cost y for a poor man to own. The farther one travels, the more charge in the hunting materials. "ishermen and other excursionists who go into the mountains to nnd a suitable camping place on some stream always take a supply ut guns along; and It is known that there are people in tiie coun try who would during the warm season. which is now earning on, spend a few weeks in the Rogue Kivcr vullev or nt Yanulnn Bay but for the extra charges we have mentioned ana which bv inauv ara termed rohberv. It is noticeable that pleasure seekers iu this part of the state have concluded to travel by private con veyance; and we suppose tiie same tiling is done elsewhere over Oregen. XV bile it might not be such a bonanza for the bag gage master who gets these extra quarters. it would be a better thing tnr the railroad companies who would get much m.re travel if they would charge pleasure seekers as they charge others lor the same weight of baggage.
