As ' contemplated, Saturday night, Coos Bay Camp No. 8408 was instituted at I. O. O. F. hall. The place was none to large for the occasion, and hnd the cutire class appeared for initiation thc hall would have bceu overtaxed. State District Deputy Consul, W. A. Woolicvcr, assisted by 5evcral members of Ban don camp, did the work. A class of 106 were- inductcn into thc or der, though the number would have been much larger had the wcath!r been more favorable. The ritualistic work was only cursorily exemplified owing to the vast amount of business before the camp. Deputy Woolicvcr proved lumseif a king of organiz ers iu the lodge room as well as outside. The writer being a visiting member and having bceu present at the institution of at least a doz en camps of Modern Wood men can say that Coos Bay Camp 8408 is represented by that element which has made this order so popular the brawn and muscle of thc com munity the laboring men. Youug men, ' men of families, who' realize that making provis ion for the futhre of those they love Is one of the highest things that tnaii Is capable of doing in this fr'orld. They show that they are fully aware that he who de liberately leaves them unprovided on account of selfish generosity 10 self can only hope to be dcspis d after he is called to his final ac cont. This class is the largest one ever having entered an order at one time in this county and from thc way the uew officers take hold the camp will be a hummer when it gets. down to work. The" following officers were ap pointed by District Deputy Wool iever, after which they were duly installed: Venerable consul, F A Cook; Worthy Advisrr, J W Tibbitts; Excellent Banker, J L Bounds; clerk, Willie Ditngan; escort, JF Huntley; watchman, P J Pratt; sentry, lulwin Flitcroft; physician, Dr Win Horsfal; managers, x yr, J M Colver; 2 yrs., Edw. Flitcroft; 3 yrs, J V Vineyard. During thc evening refresh ments werd' served after which the ritualistic work was gone through and when all thii was over the camp adjourned tc meet again 011 iuesday night, Decern bar, 10, when farther perfecting of or ganization will take place. 1 j'' ?lubbip5 v.
