The fine home of Carl Dowless, one m ile north of Gold Hill, high
above the river, is ashes. Flames com pletely destroyed it last week
while neighbors and Mrs. Dowless stood helplessly by. There is no
rural fire department in Gold Hill, no county fiee department._____
WATER SEASON ON IN GOLD
HILL, RATES GO UP NOW
Gold Hill city water users have
been reminded by Ferd W. Jones,
recorder, that the irrigation seas­
on begins May 1 and extends through
the months of May, June, July and
August.
The extra charge for Irrigation
does not affect the 50 by 100 foot
lot on which the users' residence
is located.
A charge of $1. 00 per month is
made for each other 50 by 100 foot
lot that is irrigated and the city
may check on water users to deter­
mine what land is being irrigated.
A discount of 10 per cent, norma
lly allowed if water users pay their
bills before the fifteenth, will be
permitted.
Users are warned to turn of all
water when the fire siren sounds
so high pressure may be m aintain­
ed in the mains.
SQUARE DANCERS
The Friday night square dance
group met at the Lodge Hall in
Gold Hill on April 18th with about
50 in attendance.
Warren Kimball of Eagle Point
is still acting as instructor, and he
was accompanied this time by his
wife and daughter. The group dan­
ced quadrilles and two round danc­
es.
Next dance night will be on Fri­
day, May 1, and the refreshment
chairmen will be Nora Bailey and
Opal Baker.
Hereafter the square dances will
be sponsored by the Rebekah Lodge
with the public invited to attend.
PAST NOBLE GRANDS TO MEET
The regular meeting of the Past
Noble Grands Club will be held
this afternoon at 2 at the home of
Mrs. Earl Moore on the highway,
near Gold Hill.
BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING
There will be a Budget C o­
m m ittee Meeting tonight (Thurs,)
at 8 p. m. at the City Hall. All
members are asked to attend.
