Alvarez, Pinkham Lead Batters In Summer Leagues Alvarez and Pinkham were respective leaders for Central Point Intermediates and Pee Wee ball players at the plate during the game schedule of the Southern Oregon Junior Base ball League this summer. AUGUST 9, 1956 CENTRAL POINT AMERICAN, CENTRAL POINT, OREGON PAGE EIGHT WHY YOUR CHILD SHOULD BE f VACCINATED Hunters Have Month To Send Applications For Late Hunting Hunters wishing to participate in the late season controlled hunts have approximately one month in which to file applica tions. the Oregon Game Com mission said today. Applications for the controlled deer seasons will close at 5 p.m. on September 4, while those for the controlled elk units will close at 5 pm. September 10. A fee of $5 must accompany all applications for the controlled deer hunt drawings. Drawings will be held at 10 a.m. on Sep tember 11. All elk permits valid ate the taking of one elk of either sex. No fee is required but the general elk tag must be used in conjunction with the permit. Drawings will be held at 10 a.m. on September 17. Only resident hunters may ap ply for controlled season tags or permits. Application may be made by an individual or party of not more than four. Athletics Top Baseball Play The Athletics wound up on top of the intramural baseball competion during the summer recreation program which end ed Friday, according tp Bill Esselstyn, director. The winning team scored 11 wins against four defeats to win the title. In second place were the Pir ates with 12 wins sr.d 7 losses; third, Bums, with 9 wins and 6 losses; fourth, Indians, with 7 wins and 8 losses, fifth, Yankees, with wins and 9 losses, and sixth, Braves with 4 wins and 11 losses. Coffee-ette Set Thursday Morning A coffee-ette for all mothers of children registered for the Central Point kindergarten has been planned for 10 a.m. Thurs day, August 16.
