AUGUST 2. 1956 Reception Honors Reverend Walton At Gold Hill » By Adah Jones GOLD HILL—The reception held for Rev. and Mrs. Walton of the Community Methodist church on Sunday was well at tended. Guests from Grants Pass and Medford were welcomed. Punch and cookies wrere serv ed with Mrs. Nora Wait pouring. Mrs. Earl Moore and Mrs. Paul Molloy had charge of the punch; Mrs. Roy Eskew and Mrs. Geo. Dorman made the room attrac tive with arrangements of glad- iolas and dahlias. Rev. Walton, with tape re corder played, some of the spec ial musical numbers that have been enjoyed at the church ser vices recently. Ted Schoeneman of Highway 99 north underwent major surg ery at the Veterans hospital in Portland last Friday. He is now recovering nicely and will be home in near future. Col. and Mrs. Harold Kofahl and children, Tish, Mike, Pat and Robert are spending part of their vacation at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Kofahl, of 99 north. Enroute here they visited Mrs. Kofahl’s moth er, Mrs. J. B. Peterson in Salt Lake and Col. Kofahl’s sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McMasters at Menlo Park, Calif. Col. Kofahl is chief of person nel procurement division of the Air Force at the Pentagon and their home is at Falls Church, Va. Mr. and Mrs. LeRov Wilson recently returned from San Fran cisco where they went to get information about Mrs. Wilson and baby Nancy making a visit to wes’ern Honduras. Mrs. Wil son who is a citizen of that country wished to visit her moth er who is ill but found she would be unable to make the trip and take the baby with her. She is planning on getting her cit izenship here as soon as she can. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Hoffman of 99 north have as a guest, Mrs. Hoffman’s sister, Mrs. Hel en Wagner, from Leithfield. Minn. Mrs. Wagner recently lost her husband by death. Mr. and Mrs Thelbert Wright and family of Sardine creek rec ently left for Boise. Ida., where they are visiting Mrs. Wright’s .parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wells. Mr. and Mrs. Truman Price Sr., and son, Johnnie, returned last week from a six weeks trip to the south eastern section of the US, their former home. Go ing by way of southern route they visited Mrs. Price’s sister in San Antonio. Tex. and on to Atlanta, Georgia where they joined in a family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Price, parents of Truman Sr. From there on to Tampa and Zepherwells, Florida. Mrs. Price’s iformer home was at Zepher- wells. She was a nurse in Flor ida and met Mr. Price there when he was in the navy. They returned home by way of Salt Lake City. Mrs Price is a nurse at Sacred Heart hospital. Mr. Price a retired navy officer is at present employed at Jed- dloh’s Sweed mill. Drivers Forfeit Bail to Court Farewell Party Fetes Kunzman Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kunz man were honored with a sur prise farewell party • at their home Tuesday evening by mem bers of the Crater High school faculty and friends. Kunzman is planning to leave about September 1 to accept a position with the Oregon State Department of Agriculture. He has been vocational agriculture instructor arjd FFA chapter ad visor at Crater High school. Mr. and Mrs. Kunzman were presented with gifts of an elec tric fry pan and several pieces of crystal ware. Refreshments of salad, pie and coffee were serv ed. Those attending were: Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Readiness Tests Set August 21-22 School readiness tests for pupils in District 6C who will not be six years old until after November 15 will be given on August 21 and 22. Children who will be allowed to take the test must be six be fore Jan. 15 A child who shows a mental maturity of six years and six months on the test will be admitted on trial. The testing will be at the third grade building at the Cen tral Point Elementary school.
