THURSDAY, JUNE 7, 1956 CENTRAL POINT AMERICAN, CENTRAL POINT, OREGON PAGE EIGHT Jamboree on June 20 To Open Softball 7 th, 8 th Graders Hold Track Meets To End Season Athletics at Central Point Jun ior High school ended last week with two all-grade track meets. The all seventh grade track meet was held Tuesday, May 29, and the all eighth grade track meet was held Friday, May 25. Both meets were held on the junior high football field. Results of both meets were as follows: SEVENTH GRADE— 75 yard dash—Loyal Higin- botham, 1st; James Hogue, 2nd; Dennis Fisher, 3rd. 330 yard run —Teddy Jones, 1st; Robert Bibey, 2nd; Larry Ryersoft, 3rd. 150 yard dash—Dave Foote. 1st; Loyal Higinbotham, 2nd; James Hogue, 3rd. 660 yard run—Dave Foote, 1st; Tom White, 2nd. 330 yard re lay—First place, 7Z class. Team members were Tom White, Ron Willard, Byron vonBuskirk and Larry Ryerson. High jump—Don Garrison, 1st; Ron Willard, 2nd; Tom White, 3rd. Broad jump—Teddy Jones, 1st; Don Garrison 2nd; Ron Wil lard. 3rd. Pole vault—Glen Jahnke, 1st; Mike Nolta, 2nd. Baseball throw—Tom White, 1st; Robert Bibey, 2nd; Harold Twedell, 3rd. The jamboree has been called for 6:30 p.m. All interested in playing soft ball this summer for recreation are asked to attend this meeting. Swimming Lessons To Start June 18 Swimming lessons for children will start June 18 at Hawthorne park in Medford, Bill Esselsytn, summer recreational director, an nounced this week. Fee for the instruction period is $2., which is to be paid at thee pool Minimum age of chil dren to receive lessons is eight years. Those interested may pre-reg- istdr by calling Bill Esselstyn at his home, phone NO 4-1156. 4-H Dairy Club Gives Program The program for the June 1 meeting of Central Point Grange was presented by members of Central Point 4-H Dairy club under the direction of Mrs. C. W. Anhom and Mrs. Morris Frink. The program was opened by John Anhorn, club president. Flag salute was led by Todd Caster and piano number was given by Mike Anhorn. A reading, “Vacation on Uncle’s Farm,” was given by Jeff Anhorn. A skit, “The Human Ford," was presented by the club members. Taking part were Willy Debrick, Rickey Smith, Caroline Leonard, Sue Higin botham, John Anhorn, John Caster, Todd Caster, Russell Frink, Mike Anhorn, James Frink and Lewis Nickerson. A reading, Memorial Day, was given by Mrs. Morris Frink. Master Harold Gebhard pre sided at the grange meeting. Small attendance was noted be cause of the commencement ex ercise at Crater High school. The charter was draped in memory of Mrs. Ruth Sparrow. The chaplain reported that Mrs. Ora Debrick was ill and that the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Weidman was ser iously ill. Mrs. W. J. Gebhard was reported ill but improving. First and second degrees will be exemplified at the next reg ular meeting on June 15. PINE STREET SERVICE Ray Anderson. His grandfather is D. S. Fleming. The trip was a grad uation present for David who just graduated from Sams Valley Grade school. HAYBURNERS TO MEET Hayburners 4-H Horse club has scheduled a meeting for 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the home of Penny Sampert. The last meeting was May 10 at the home of Jim Fr\pk. Jim Frink, reporter CHILDREN'S PROGRAM A special children’s day pro gram for both youngsters and adults is planned for Sunday, June 10, at First Presbyterian church of Central Point. The program will take place im mediately after morning church worship. VISITS WITH SON Mrs. C. A. Sharpe Sr. of Wal nut Creek, Calif., was a guest last weekend in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sharpe Jr., and family. She returned to Cal ifornia Friday. ATTENDS FUNERAL Richard Stratton flew to White Salmon, Washington, Tuesday to attend funeral services for Gail Larsen, a long-time friend of Strattons.
