Bible Church is being held this
week, Wednesday through Friday
at 7:45 p.m.. The speaker for
Wednesday and Friday even
ing is Mrs. Anne Dievendorf
of Japan. Mrs. Dievendorf went
to Japan in 1922 and was among
the Americans interned on the
Islands during the harrowing
years of World War II.
Coming out of internment she
found her work wrecked, the
churches burned and the con
gregations scattered. Rehabilita
tion immediately began, the mis
sion was reorganised, all the
burned churches were rebuilt and
Bible school established in the
atom-bomb devastated »-lty of
Hioshima.
Among her ministries Mrs.
Devendorf has taught Bible class
es among the University stud
ents. She will show movie pic
tures, curios and costumes.
On Thursday evening Rev. R.
M. Jackson, missionary to Viet
Nam, Indo China, will speak and
show pictures. Mr. Jackson has
been on the mission field for
36 years and knows well the
history of that land which is
currently the hotbed <»f com
munist advance and strife. The
Rev. Mr. Jackson was interned
there during the war. After the
war his residence was in Saigon,
Hanoi province, but when the
Reds captured DienBienPhu he
wa# forced to move to Dalat and
has continued his missionary
work there since that time. Mr.
Jackson is well-informed relative
to tlhe problems land conflicts
that harass Southeast Asia.
The missionary services will be
held three nights, Wednesday
through Friday, the pastor, Rolf
H. Hansen, states. The public is
invited.
Ladies Attend Show
At Rogue River
A group of ladies from Central
Point motored to Rogue River
Saturday afternoon, April 18, and
attended the flower show put on
by the Rogue River, Evans and
Laurel clubs.

RETURN FROM SOUTH
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Page of
Route 1, Central Point, returned
to their home last Sunday even
ing from a trip to Pasadena,
Calif , where they visited friends
and relatives. They reported a
wonderful trip. At Walnut Creek,
Calif, they stopped to visit Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Clements in
their new home there. The Clem
ents are former Rogue Valley
residents.
Relief Corps Holds
Convention Saturday
The 20th annual convention of
local Women's Relief Corps was
held Saturday, April 16 at the
Legion Memorial hall.
Twenty-six members were
present from Ashland, Grants
Pass and Central Point. Includ
ed in the guests were Florence
Wick, department president, and
Dorothy Kamrath, department in
spector.
The meeting opened at 10:30
a m. and was adjourned at 3:30
p.m. A delicious dinner was
served at noon. Many members
were unable to attend because of
illness.

Schedule Prom,
Banquet May 6

JACKSONVILLE—Jacksonville
High school senior prom and
junior banquet will be held May
6. Scene of the senior prom will
be the Jacksonville Community
hall and the banquet will be held
at the Jacksonville Rebekah hall.
Carmen Cabler is the senior class
member in charge of the prom
and Carol Iverson, junior, is in
charge of the banquet committee.
Jacksonville Lions club is spon
soring a carnival set for Friday,
April 22, at the Community hall.
All proceeds from the event will
go toward purchase of uniforms
for the school band. Central
Pointers welcome.
The Gloom Chasers, a nation
al school assemblies program, was
conducted at the high school last
Tuesday for high and grade
school students. The program fea
tured magic and memory acts.
News of the death of Guy
Hanify, former southern Oregon
resident, on April 9, was received
last week. He died at Los Angeles
and funeral services were held
April 12 at Azusa, Calif. He lived
in Jacksonville and Medford for
many years. Among survivors
here are two nieces, Mrs. Gladys
Moody, Central Point, and Mrs.
Charlotte Evans, Medford.
Mrs. Sarah Edens left early
Saturday morning by United Air
Lines flor Chicago, Ill, where
she will visit indefinitely with a
son, George Edens, and his wife
and four children.
