Residents Pass
In Past Week

JACKSONVILLE—Three Jack-
sonville residents passed away
during the past week.
Services were held this week
for Lester Norman who died in
Marysville, Calif. He was a form­
er resident of Jacksonville. In­
terment was in Jacksonville
cemetery. Survivors include his
mother, Mrs. Minnie Norman,
Jacksonville; two brothers, Lloyd,
Medford, and Capt. Lewis, with
the USAF in Greenland, and a
sister, Mrs. Neal Walters, San
Diego, Calif.
Funeral rites were also held
for Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller, 95, who
died at the home of her daugh­
ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
E. E. Evans, Jacksonville. In­
ternment was in Fuller cemetery
at Pasadena, Calif.
Rites were held Thursday for
an old-time resident of Jackson­
ville, Wilber W. Cameron, 87,
with interment in the Jackson­
ville cemetery. The deceased, a
southern Oregon resident for the
past 25 years, was born at Union
Town, Oregon, on December 23,
1867. He was a retired farmer
and stockman from the Apple­
gate valley. Survivors include his
wife, Dora, and several nieces
and nephews.
Terry Maddox, a sophomore at
the University of Oregon, is one
of the winners of an Oregon ‘
Dad’s scholarship. He is major­
ing in geology.
During an annual meeting held
•last week at the Jacksonville
Presbyterian church, Otto Nied-
ermeyer was elected elder and
John Keavney and Melvin Hall
was elected trustees.
Jacksonville Museum has
changed opening hours to 11 a.m.
to 4 p m. to better accommodate
persons wishing to visit the mus­
eum during noon hours and for
the benefit of school children
who come to Jacksonville from
throughout southern Oregon and
must return in the afternoon.

that 863 persons registered at
the museum during December
and that 171, 815 vistors have
now passed through the institu-
tion’s doors.
Mrs. Norma Hill and Mrs. Mary
Crawford, proprietors of the new
Jacksonville Dress shop are bus­
ily engaged this week assisted
by their husbands in remodeling
and expanding their shop in order
to make room for a line of men’s
work clothes as well as a more
complete line of women's and
children's apparel. The Hills live
at 307 G. street und have two
children, Michael and Merry,
w’o attend St. Mary’s academy
in Medford. The Crawfords live
on Route 1, Bellinger Lane, and
have three children, twin girls,
Alice and Ann, and a son, Tom-
my, 11, all of whom attend Jack-
sonville grade schol.
Initiation was held at the IOOF
hall for the Ruth Rebekah lodge
ior High and Grade schools are
beginning to preview text books
which will be adopted for use
during the next six years. Books
are arriving now and cover the
subjects: art, homemaking, music
and social studies.
January 17 when Mrs. Donna
Wiggins of Medford and Mrs.
Carl Hoskins, Jacksonville, were
initiated. Refreshments followed.
