Local FHA Girls
To Host District
Conclave on Sat.
Annual southern district Fut­
ure Homemakers of America
convention will be held from
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday,
October 23, at Crater High school
with the local chapter as host­
esses.
Miss Janet Nelson of Crater
High, district chairman, will pre­
side over the meeting. High
schools throughout Jackson and
Josephine counties will particp-
ate.
Theme for the meeting will be
“'United We Work for Better
Homes." Slated for the business
session is emblematic service, re­
districting of counties, state con­
stitution, state and national work
program, buzz session and a talk
on the Pacific Regional meeting
at Logan, Utah.
Also, two nominees will be
selected for the district post to
be formed from the south and
south coast districts. The new
district will be known as the
southwest district. Balloting will
be by mail.
Committees for the convention
include: invitations, Blossom
Governor, chairman, and Billie
Conner; hospitality, Alice Turn­
er, chairman, Barbara McGon-
agle, Rose Marie Legler, Barbara
Swanson and Laurel Higinboth-
am; decorations, Romana Grubbs,
chairman, Arlene Waterhouse,
Beverly Sanderson, Deanna Dol­
and and Sharon Day.

Carter FFA Team
To Judge at PI
Four members of Crater chap­
ter, Future Farmers of America,
accompanied by Leonard Kunz-
man, advisor, will leave Friday
for the Pacific International at
Portland where they will enter
the livestock judging contest.
The three team members will
be Paul Lofland, Norman Barnes
and Richard Morris. An alternate
team member will also accom­
pany the team. The alternate will
be picked from three candidates,
Lee Sanderson, Gene Monia or
Morton Gosset.
Judging will be held Saturday
morning. The team, in competi­
tion with others from Oregon and
Washington, will judge breeding
and fat classes of beef, sheep and
swine.
