Smith Passes in Portland Frederick A. Sm ith passed aw ay at the V eterans hospital in Portland Oregon July 25. He was born at Sandusky, Ohio Decem ber 12, 1898, the son of F red M. an d Anna Smith. He had made his hom e in Jackson county since 1905. For seven years he lived in A sh­ land w here he was a m em ber of the Ashland post of the American Le­ gion. The past year he spent in John Day and at Portland. Beside his m other, Mrs. Anna Smith, he leaves three brothers. Clifton F. Smith, Roland A Smith of Medford and H u bert A. Smith of Eagle Point, besides num erout friends in Ashland and Medford His father passed aw ay in 1934.
