TH E H E A L T H RULES
W hile the Register has no desire to enter into
any controversy regarding the ruling o f the lo
cal health board and the city council regarding a
partial quarantine o f this city against Infantile
Paralysis we do wish to emphasize this fact, that
the ruling was made by professional rrien who o c
cupy a high place in the business and profession
al life o f Ashland, Every day their judgment is
relied upon. If they were to be called into a sick
room in your home, their instructions would b :
followed explicitly. Their rulings are based not
upon public sentiment, but upon the latest scien
tific knowledge obtainable.
*
No Cases in Schools
They have pointed out that so far, not one case
o f this disease has originated within the city o f
Ashland. They are desirous o f seeing that there
are no cases or iginate in the city o f Ashland.
They believe that the best way to prevent this is
to keep the children in school where they can be
under the direct supervision o f a trained nurse
and teachers who have been cautioned to watch
for the latest sign o f illness. They believe that by
having the children in school, parents will know’
exactly w’here they are at all times. They believe
that it is possible in cases where individuals have
been quarantined that it is possible to seggregate
more effectively those that may have come in di
rect contact with the disease.
