This 1926 championship hoop title is the first basketball title the high school has captured since 1916 when they won the record they now hold. The team scored a total o f 565 points to their opponents’ 243 during the season. Each player’s score for the season was: Shores, guard, 120; Faber, for ward, 173; Pickett, forward, 216; Benson, center, 18; Hamilton guard, 7; Hover, sub., 1; Beall, sub. 1. Marie Kitredge, Shores, Pickett, Carl Hover. The Pointer, the year book of the Central Point high school, was edited hy John Bonnert and managed by Orval Shores. The Pointer o f which the fifth issue was published this year portrays student life in Central Point high school so that in years to come memories of the high school days will not be lost. This track team won for C. P. H. S. the annual Jackson county track and field meet silver award in 1925, making Central Point schools the county champs for the fifth successive year. They won the meet of the Jackson county fairgrounds April 25, by a score of 171.5 points, which gave them a margin o f 29.5 points over their closest rival Phoenix, who ran up a total of 146 tallies. P. H. S. tennis team on iecord as representing Central Point in a valley tournament, returned from Ashland May 12. 1922, with the crown o f victory shining from their swollen heads. , Leever and Morris, the doubles team, easily won from Phoenix in the finals. Leever, the man with the wicked swerve, threw down such a barege o f speedy curves and “ dead balls” as to keep opponents continually on the defensive. Morris, another •aan, backed up leever's attacks with infinite skill s>nd persistency, hi* accurate placing o f the bal' adding greatly to the winning o f the victory. Havaillur,, playing single*, lost the first set to Phoenix In the finals, then rallied and won the second after being forced to a love i c t The third and deciding eet was easily won as Phoenix, due to poor condition, blew up entirely, giving the set, match and tournament to Central Point.
